"KYIV FOREVER". Masterpieces from the collection of the Museum of the History of the City of Kyiv

29 May 2023 - 19 Aug 2023

Description

Masterpieces from the collection of the Museum of the History of the City of Kyiv will be presented in the Museum and Exhibition Center for Kyiv Day. "KYIV FOREVER" is a unique exhibition project, which is being implemented simultaneously in the Museum and Exhibition Center of the Museum of the History of the City of Kyiv, the Gulliver Shopping Center and the Varoshaza Central Park in Budapest. This is an exhibition about such a different and multifaceted Kyiv: at night and in the morning, calm and bustling, flowery and urban. This is a dedication to the legendary city, a kind of artistic chronicle, represented by the works of S. Shishko, O. Khvostenko-Khvostov, F. Konovalyuk, S. Svitoslavsky and other well-known artists who did not just paint the Ukrainian capital, but created real emotional canvases of the era. Hanna Starostenko, deputy head of the KMDA, notes: "The aggressor country continues to attack not only Ukrainian cities, but also Ukrainian culture. As long as our defenders hold the military front, we must fight back in the informational and cultural field. Therefore, I am indescribably grateful to the authorities of Budapest for their support and the opportunity to show Kyiv through the eyes of famous Ukrainian artists. This is an opportunity to mark the space of the European capital with a Ukrainian narrative." Canvases created by the classics of Ukrainian painting, each of whom felt the mood of the city in their own way, will really be seen by both Kyivans and Budapest residents. Masterpieces from the collection of the Museum of History of the City of Kyiv will be presented in the sister cities of Kyiv on the initiative and assistance of the KMDA. Thus, according to representatives of the Budapest Municipality, this exhibition is another opportunity to draw the attention of the Hungarian public to the Ukrainian capital. Diana Popova, general director of the History Museum of Kyiv, emphasizes: "The art of painting inspires, in it we find solace in difficult times. With this exhibition project, we aim to inspire, present genuine and sincere emotions, and once again express our admiration for the beauty of the Ukrainian capital. In spite of everything - to paint with bright colors the Day of Kyiv - a city that lives and does not give up, a city in which there is now more than ever a thirst for life. We are extremely grateful to Ukrainian soldiers for their protection, and to international partners for their support, particularly on the cultural front." Selected works from the exhibition will also be presented in the space of the Gulliver shopping center. "Kyiv Day is a special holiday for each of us. And together with the Museum of the History of the City of Kyiv, we decided to show familiar locations and landscapes of our capital through the eyes of famous artists. We invite you to visit the KYIV FOREVER exhibition project on the 2nd floor of the shopping center and discover Kyiv from a new side," comments Kateryna Zhurakivska, marketing director of the Gulliver shopping center.
