Exhibition Dedicated to Women
Dates: March 5 – May 4, 2025
At the beginning of spring, the Museum of Kyiv History opens the exhibition “Who Told You I’m Weak?”, dedicated to the multifaceted essence of women who can change the world, inspire others, and heal souls.
“Today, an enormous responsibility rests on the shoulders of Ukrainian women. They amaze the whole world with their courage, strength, and love – serving, supporting the military, caring for children, waiting for loved ones to return from captivity, fighting for justice, mastering ‘male’ professions, building businesses, pursuing self-development, and supporting each other. Above all, this project is dedicated to Ukrainian women who defy all stereotypes and clichés through their desire for a full life despite alarming news and insurmountable circumstances,” notes Diana Popova, General Director of the Museum of Kyiv History.
This is not just an art project but an invitation to an open dialogue about the contemporary understanding of female nature and its influence on the world around us.
The exhibition is divided into several sections, each representing a particular stage in the transformation of women, with the works included metaphorically illustrating this journey. Renowned Ukrainian artists – Roman Selsky, Tetiana Yablonska, Mykola Novikov, Oleksandr Roitburd, Liudmyla Morozova, Stepan Khvylia, Vasyl Krychevsky, Oleksandr Arkhypenko – explore the inner world of women, their emotions, feelings, and dreams through various forms, styles, and artistic directions.
The exhibition features works from the collections of the Museum of Kyiv History and its branch – the Museum of the Ukrainian Diaspora, the “NU ART” gallery, and the private collection of Yurii Huts.
