General information

According to the decree of the Head of the Kyiv Military Administration on November 12, 2024, the Avant-Garde Museum was officially established as part of the Museum of the History of Kyiv, becoming its tenth branch. On May 15, 2025, the Kyiv City Council made a historic decision to allocate a building for the Avant-Garde Museum at 16 Lypska Street.

The main objectives of the Avant-Garde Museum are to preserve, study, research, popularize, and exhibit Ukrainian avant-garde art, as well as to strengthen Ukraine’s status as a center of avant-garde. The art collection of the newly established branch fully represents the entire trajectory of Ukrainian avant-garde development, from the classical avant-garde of the first half of the 20th century to the present day — from Anatol Petrytsky, Vadym Meller, and Oleksandr Bohomazov to Oleg Tistol, Maryna Skugaryova, Viktor Sydorenko, Hlib Vysheslavskyi, Oleksandr Zhyvotkov, and others.
