Avant-Garde Museum to Open Exhibition Marking the Artist’s 80th Birthday. Anatolii Kryvolap is an artist whose work holds a distinctive place in the history of contemporary Ukrainian art. His painting has developed a recognizable and unique artistic language centered on color, space, light, and the inner energy of form. A special place in his oeuvre is occupied by the Ukrainian landscape — earth, sky, fields, water, and the horizon. In the artist’s works, these elements transcend the boundaries of a specific landscape and become images filled with inner tension, silence, and light.
The title of the exhibition, Infinity, refers to one of the key sensations conveyed through Anatolii Kryvolap’s work: the boundlessness of color, light, and space. His landscapes do not simply depict nature; they convey a state, a mood, and a sense of space that seems to extend beyond the boundaries of the canvas.
A specially created installation will form a separate part of the project, extending the artist’s visual language into the museum space. Its central idea is to offer visitors a physical experience of being within a space constructed according to the principles of Anatolii Kryvolap’s painting. In this way, the abstract concept expressed in the exhibition title transforms from an artistic metaphor into a tangible, embodied reality, becoming a kind of key to understanding the artist’s creative method.
The project is an important part of the celebrations marking Anatolii Kryvolap’s 80th anniversary and continues the Avant-Garde Museum’s ongoing programme of exploring Ukrainian art as a continuous process of the development of artistic tradition. In this context, Kryvolap’s work emerges as one of the manifestations of the living continuity of the Ukrainian avant-garde — a tradition that did not end with the historical period of the 1920s and 1930s, but continues to evolve, transform, and acquire new meaning in contemporary Ukrainian art.
