“Earthly Paths of the Heavenly Hundred”

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Revolution of Dignity and in order to honor the memory of the fallen Heroes, The Museum of Kyiv History and the National Memorial Complex of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred – Museum of the Revolution of Dignity present the exhibition “Earthly Paths of the Heavenly Hundred”.

The exhibition “Earthly Paths of the Heavenly Hundred” is about people who became Heroes, about who they were and what brought them to the Maidan. It is also about their very different paths, which intersected at key moments for Ukraine, and about the fact that these paths were their conscious choice.

For the first time in one place, visitors will have the opportunity to see a large number of personal belongings of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, unique artifacts collected from different corners of Ukraine, items filled with dramatic emotions.

The exhibition begins with the events that preceded the Euromaidan. Some of the Heroes were participants of the Revolution on Granite, while thirteen of the Heavenly Hundred had not even been born at that time. For many, the impetus for civic activity was the Orange Revolution of 2004. And for some, the Revolution of Dignity became the first and last manifestation of their civic stance.

However, not all the Heroes died directly during the Revolution of Dignity. There are also those who joined the ranks of the Heavenly Hundred later, defending the achievements of the Maidan and resisting in the first days of the hybrid Russian aggression.

These are people of different nationalities, ages, and educational backgrounds; men and women; the geography of their origins covers all regions of Ukraine, some from abroad; entrepreneurs and pensioners, scholars, artists, students… The youngest was 17, the oldest – 82 years old. Their personal stories form a generalized portrait of Ukraine and Ukrainians of our time.

The exhibition will feature, in particular, items provided by the families of Valerii Brezdeniuk, Yurii Verbytskyi, Nazarii Voitovych, Eduard Hrynevych, Ustym Holodniuk, Mykola Dziavulskyi, Roman Huryk, Oleksandr Kapinos, Ihor Kostenko, Yakiv Zaika, Volodymyr Melnychuk, Liudmyla Sheremet, Ivan Nakonechnyi, Bohdan Solchanyk, Volodymyr Chaplinskyi, Vasyl Serhiienko, Roman Senyk, Valerii Opanasiuk.
