A poignant exhibition project, “Heart Turned Outward. Blossoming Resilience,” is opening at the Museum of Kyiv History. Its aim is to show the strength and beauty of Ukrainian women — mothers and wives who raised and supported Heroes on their path and who now preserve and multiply the memory of their courage.
“Heart Turned Outward. Blossoming Resilience” is a multi-genre project that brings together, within a single museum space, vivid photographs of women in traditional dress who, after the most painful losses, found the strength to continue living, and the stories of fallen soldiers who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine, for the chance for their families to live in a free country.
Colorful blooming images serve as a symbol of the prematurely broken blossom of the Ukrainian nation. These memories are imbued with sorrow and pride at the same time; these stories are meant to inspire and set guiding landmarks — for they are about ordinary men who planned their futures, dreamed, and were hope and support for their families, yet became Heroes through the highest degree of self-sacrifice.
The Museum of Kyiv History honors and gratefully supports the project “Heart Turned Outward. Blossoming Resilience.” Such socio-cultural initiatives make it possible not only to commemorate the fallen, but also to shape a culture of remembrance that unites society and helps process the experience of war. We bow our heads not only before the feat of the fallen Heroes, but also before the strength of spirit and will of their mothers and wives, who live with wounded hearts yet boundless love within them.
