On march 13 you are welcome to visit the exhibition, hold in the Museum of Kyiv History, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the famous Ukrainian artist Ivan Marchuk – one of the most significant modern artists, who created more than 5000 arts and invented a unique art technic “pliontanism”
The title of the exhibition — “I ShookThis World” — is at the same time an author’s revelation and a testimony of his art scale. Today art works of Ivan Marchuk are represented all over the world – even Antarctica holds one. This exhibition reveals the multifaceted world of the artist: It will unfold on all exhibition floors of the museum and showcase almost 250 works by Ivan Marchuk.
Each floor will have its own title and concept, forming a holistic portrait of the artist — from early explorations to iconic cycles and philosophical generalizations.
A special place in the exhibition will be occupied by works from Ivan Marchuk’s personal collection: early paintings, portraits, student works, sketches, and ceramic panels, most of which have not previously been presented to the general public.
The exhibition will reveal Ivan Marchuk’s arts through the prism of the epochs that shaped the artist: from the Soviet period, when bright individuality was perceived as a challenge to the system, to the period of Ukraine’s independence and our present day, in which his art is discovered in a new historical resonance.
The paintings for the exhibition were provided by 11 museums of Ukraine and more than 30 private collectors, which made it possible to assemble at the Museum of Kyiv History a large-scale representation of the artist’s work from different periods.
