“In Your Name.” Exhibition of analog graphics by Nadiia Khart

We invite you to visit the exhibition of contemporary Kyiv artist Nadiia Khart, who creates incredible graphic works based on photographs. The artist aestheticizes the creative process down to the smallest detail — from the selection of materials to compositional harmony — and with graphic precision conveys the character of the figures in her works.

“In Your Name” is a series of portraits dedicated to cultural figures of the Executed Renaissance and the Sixtiers resistance movement. The works were created in 2022–2023 as a reaction to russian war crimes against Ukrainian culture. The artist explained that the destruction and looting of museums by the russians return us to the stories of the past, where all this had already happened.

“Each portrait is a fragment of love for Ukrainian culture, a memory of the values these artists defended, and admiration for our people. I wanted to depict them in the bloom of their beauty and youth, to convey every detail of their faces that old black-and-white photographs could not capture,” emphasizes Nadiia Khart.

The series includes portraits of Valerian Pidmohylnyi, Maik Yohansen, Les Kurbas, Vasyl Stus, Alla Horska, Liubov Panchenko, and many other representatives of our culture who, in one way or another, became victims of Kremlin policy. Through her works, the artist not only highlights the significance of individual figures but also encourages reflection on the theme of generational connection.
