Summer Kyiv became the central theme of the exhibition “Kyiv in the Poetry of Summer,” which has been running at the Museum of the History of Kyiv since today.

What is Kyiv like in the summer? Is it a city of golden domes, green hillsides,and the Dnipro River? Why is it that, in summer, the city reveals itself in acompletely different way – its familiar streets seem brighter, its parks more inviting, and its rhythm slows to an almost contemplative pace?

In summer, Kyiv seems to come alive in a new way: it becomes lighter, quieter, and more tender. The hustle and bustle of everyday life dissolves beneath the shade of parks, in the coolness of the water, and during the long, warm evenings when time seems to slow down. It is this Kyiv that has become the central theme of the exhibition “Kyiv in the Poetry of Summer”

Its goal is to invite visitors to pause, if only for a moment, to see a familiar city with fresh eyes and recall those simple feelings that summer in Kyiv brings.Through its paintings, the exhibition reminds us that Kyiv is, above all, a city of emotions, memories, and inspiration – one that every generation discovers in its own way

The exhibition features artworks by Ukrainian artists of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, including Serhii Shyshko, Serhii Lysytsyn, OleksandrKhvostenko-Khvostov, Tetiana Yablonska, and others, who, across different periods, captured the spirit of Kyiv in summer. Despite the diversity of their artistic styles and historical periods, they are united by their love for the city and their desire to convey its unique atmosphere

At the same time, in these works, Kyiv appears as a place where quiet, bright and tender poetry is born
