The Museum of Kyiv History presents the painting exhibition “Color as a Language” by the prominent Ukrainian artists Tetiana Yablonska and Mykola Hlushchenko.
In the renovated exhibition hall of the Museum and Exhibition Center of the Museum of Kyiv History, an exhibition of the brilliant artists Tetiana Yablonska and Mykola Hlushchenko opens, their work has left a significant mark on our culture. More than 20 artworks by the artists from the collections of the Museum of Kyiv History, the National Art Museum of Ukraine, and Tetiana Yablonska’s family collection create an imagined dialogue between the classics of Ukrainian painting.
This exhibition is a kind of encyclopedia of color, as Tetiana Yablonska and Mykola Hlushchenko were brilliant colorists. According to the exhibition expert and art historian Hanna Volodymyrska: “Color is an essential component of visual art, and in the art of both these artists, color was the primary focus. Looking at the paintings of Tetiana Nylyvna and Mykola Petrovych, we can engage in a dialogue with them through the language of color.”
Tetiana Yablonska and Mykola Hlushchenko, over the years of their fruitful creative work, managed to tell the world much about Ukraine, the beauty of its nature, the character of Ukrainians, and their love of life.
“Today, while war continues in Ukraine, and Russia shamefully seeks not only to take our territories but also to appropriate the creativity of many artists of the past century, it is extremely important for us, as a cultural institution, to speak about and showcase our Ukrainian artists and their creative heritage. We are proud that the collection of the Museum of Kyiv History includes works by the brilliant Tetiana Yablonska and Mykola Hlushchenko, and that we have the opportunity to introduce Ukrainians to their art,” — emphasizes Diana Popova, General Director of the Museum of Kyiv History.
In addition to the paintings of the two artists, the exhibition space will also feature personal belongings of Tetiana Yablonska — her working glasses, palette, and brushes.
