**Photo Exhibition of the Ukrainian Red Cross – the country’s largest humanitarian organization**
From May 9 to May 19, 2024, the Museum of Kyiv History hosts a photo exhibition dedicated to the activities of the Ukrainian Red Cross during the war, as well as to World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, celebrated worldwide on May 8.
30 photographs – 30 stories – revealed through the lenses of volunteers and renowned photojournalists, documenting events during the war in Ukraine. The images highlight the vital role of the Ukrainian Red Cross in supporting the population. Already, 12.5 million Ukrainians have received assistance from the Ukrainian Red Cross across the country, and this support will continue as long as it is needed.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the largest humanitarian organization through the prism of war and gain deeper insight into its various activities: from the first aid provided to those affected during shelling to its crucial role in restoring medical facilities.
The photographs at the exhibition reveal more than document the events of the full-scale invasion; they convey deep meaning and an emotional connection with the heroes of these stories. Each frame testifies to courage, solidarity, and dedication to the Ukrainian people: the evacuation of residents from flooded Kherson and frontline settlements, provision of first aid and psychological support to the wounded, restoration of rehabilitation centers in Lyutezh and Lviv, assistance to the State Emergency Service during rescue operations, care for the elderly at home, and mine-risk awareness. This is the everyday life of volunteers who are ready 24/7 to help, knowing that each time could be their last.**
To allow everyone to experience the importance of being able to save lives, the Ukrainian Red Cross team invites visitors to participate in specially organized events during the exhibition, where you can receive practical knowledge – essential in wartime – free of charge:
