Ukrainian Avant-Garde. Evolution. Collection Expansion

The exhibition “Ukrainian Avant-Garde. Evolution. Collection Expansion” is a unique collection of 30 striking examples of avant-garde works by Ukrainian artists, which will form the basis of the museum collection “Ukrainian Avant-Garde – Evolution” and become a part of the National Museum Fund.

The exhibition is structured to demonstrate the evolution of Ukrainian avant-garde art across several of its periods.

Oleksandr Dubovyk and Viktor Ryzhykh are representatives of the 2nd wave (1960s);

Anatolii Kryvolap, Marko Heiko, Mykola Kryvenko, Tiberii Silvashi, Oleksandr Babak, Oleksandr Diachenko, Vasyl Bazhai, Oleksandr Sukholit, Viktor Sydorenko, Oleh Tistol, Oleksandr Roitburd, Mykola Matsenko, Ihor Stupachenko, Maksym Mamsikov are representatives of the 3rd wave (1980s–1990s).

The 4th wave (early 21st century) will be represented by works of artists from the Forbes ranking “The Best Young Artists of Ukraine” — Roman Minin and Anna Myronova.

Renowned artists and their works inspire and make it possible to feel that Ukraine has much to be proud of in the global cultural dimension. After all, Ukraine is one of the main homelands of the world avant-garde, and the city of Kyiv has given the world some of the most influential artists, pioneers of the avant-garde. In particular, Kazimir Malevich, Oleksandr Arkhypenko, Oleksandra Ekster.

All works presented at the exhibition were donated by well-known collectors and artists with the support of the NGO “Museum of Avant-Garde”.

Project experts: Eduard Dymshyts — art historian, академік of the European Academy of Sciences, Arts and Literature, honorary академік of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, partner in the creation of the museum. Dmytro Horbachov — art historian, Chief Scientific Consultant for the creation of the museum.
