The unique exhibition “Ichthys: The Cossack Icon on Fish” was presented at the Bila Tserkva Museum
Recently, the Bila Tserkva Local History Museum opened the unique exhibition “Ichthys: The Cossack Icon on Fish.”
Prior to this, visitors had the opportunity to view the exhibition at the Museum and Exhibition Center. We are delighted that the exhibition continues to travel across Ukrainian museums, introducing Ukrainians to lesser-known chapters of our history. The author and curator of the exhibition is our research associate, Andriy Ivanovych Lopushynskyi.
The exhibition explores the daily life and customs of the 19th-century Cossack traders (Chumaks) and presents the traditional Chumak art of icon painting on fish, recreated by Kherson artist Oksana Vasylivna Osnach, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine and participant in about 40 national and 4 international art exhibitions.
Visitors can view the exhibition until 15 October 2023.
