Personal exhibition of extreme photographer Serhii Tumasov "Terra.Bifurcation"

15 June 2023 - 16 July 2023
The Museum and Exhibition Center of the Museum of History of the City of Kyiv presents a personal exhibition of landscape photography "Terra.Bifurcation" by the well-known Ukrainian extreme photographer Serhii Tumasov.

"Terra.Bifurcation" is an exhibition of photos about beauty, about life, about the energy of nature, about all the beautiful things that surround us on Planet Earth.

This is a return exhibition after a forced break. The photographs that will be presented at the exhibition were taken during the author's pre-war photo expeditions, but have never been presented to the general public.

The works of Serhiy Tumasov cannot be confused, because they are rare shots, trophy photographs that capture unique moments of nature and the unique play of light on magnificent landscapes. For many years, the photo artist reached the most remote places of the Planet in order to be filled with the perfect harmony given to us by the Creator, captured the energy of the Universe and conveyed it in his works. And I would continue to do so in the future, but... War has come to Ukraine! And what could be more irrational than war? It destroys harmony, destroys beauty, distorts perception, changes reality. The war fills everything and you become its hostage. Everything you think about, everything you do, in one way or another, is connected with the war. Now Ukraine, protecting itself and European values, is saving the world from chaos and destruction. And this very state of ours is called a critical point of bifurcation, when Ukrainians give their lives to preserve the beauty of the whole world and life on the Planet.

"Today I don't photograph beautiful things. Instead, I have to document the horrors of war in my country. Burnt and bombed houses, pain, suffering of people who lost their relatives or homes. For me, this is a split, a bifurcation. However, I do not want to show these shots, there are already enough of them in the information space recently. At this exhibition, I prefer to show the beauty, the world that needs to be protected. The world for which desperate Ukrainians are fighting at this very moment," says author Serhiy Tumasov about the title and concept of the exhibition.

At the exhibition, the viewer will feel the power of the majestic Himalayan mountains of Nepal and the Karakorum, will be surprised by the uniqueness of the coastal rocks of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, will be captivated by the beauty of the waterfalls of Iceland and Ukraine. Magical shots from the "First Ray" series, where the morning sun barely touches the snowy peaks, will not leave anyone indifferent with its inner energy, which seems to pour from the canvas. The exhibition of large-format and black-and-white photographs will immerse visitors in another world — a world of unknown fantastic nature that must be preserved for themselves and future generations.
